The morning after breakfast at Poppy's....

With so many people travelling from afar to attend our dinner we just had to continue on and have breakfast the morning after.

Over fifty of us gathered at Poppy's at the Australian War Memorial at 9am on the Sunday.   Making a reservation for FIFTY for breakfast at a cafe is a slightly daunting task and I was a little worried about how it would go but my concerns proved unfounded and it was a great success.

For those who do not know, the cafe is so named after Trooper Poppy Pearce who was killed in action in Tarn Kot.  After his death the cafe in Tarin Kot was re-named in his honour such was the regard in which he was held.  When Tarin Kot was closed down the then Prime Minister Tony Abbott carried this sign from Tarin Kot to the War Memorial, presenting it to Brendan Nelson of the War Memorial almost as soon as he arrived him.

Poppy's could not have been a better venue for our breakfast.
The food was delish!  and the service could not be faulted.  My compliments to Mo, the manager, on a job well done.   I would certainly book them again.

Unfortunately the idea for a group shot was raised after a few of the group had already left but we took it anyway.

A fitting end to a great weekend.  Many went on to tour the War Memorial, some headed straight home but I think it is safe to say that we all had a fabulous time!

Till next year...... keep spreading the word and happy stitching... no doubt with renewed vigor!
