Before anything else…Please please, please keep an eye on
the blog. This is my most effective way
of keeping you all informed with what is going on and I really need your help
supplying info when asked so that I can get the request list and other data
sources up to date after the fire.
I am not yet able to write posts every night but I am
working towards it.

PRIORITY QUILTS
If you take on a request that has absolutely no leeway in
posting dates I always try to let you know.
Requests 2 to 7 must be in
the mail no later than end of September.
If you are interested in these quilts you need to know that as there is
not much room to run later than the post by date of 26 September.
Requests 6 and 7 are
for RAEME themed quilts, that basically means anything in the regimental
colours or Red, Blue and Yellow, perhaps with their motto added “Arte et Marte”. To speed these quilts up if you are interested
I also have enough red, blue and gold blocks of the month that could be used as
well and I could send them out to anyone interested in them for these quilts. EDIT - these are taken
POST BY DATE
The post by date for the rest of the requests in this week’s
list 26 September. PLEASE note the date
and let me know if you have any problems getting your quilt/LB away on time. In
fact, if you are going to be late posting it please let me know BEFORE you post
it.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE copy the ENTIRE line if you wish to
nominate for a quilt or laundry bag.
This is really important to make sure that neither you nor I copy the
wrong number which could lead to me giving you the wrong details for specific
request.
B=both quilt and laundry bag (feel free to nominate to JUST
do the laundry bag if you wish)
Q= just a quilt
LB = just a laundry bag
Requests in pink are for girls.
NOTE
ANF stands for the Australian National Flag and you can buy
panels at Spotlight – ask for them if you can’t find them.
The Regimental Badge
that is referred to in requests 55-61, the
Royal Australian Regiment Badge in
37-45 and the Rising Sun are ones that I
can sent to you, embroidered on homespun, that you can piece into your quilt or
add via applique.
There are two quilts that would like ANF (Australian
National Flags) and RAE… RAE is the engineers and their motto is “honi Soit Qui
Mal Y Pense”. Also their colours are red
and blue.
PIGs
You will also see that we have a number of requests for PIG
themed quilts… this is because 7RAR is deployed and they are known as the Porky
7 or the Pig Regiment. I will write a post to explain this at a later date but
in the meantime, just about any pig will do from cute little porky pig to
farmyard pigs to big mean looking boars.
Many of the quilts on this list are also from 7RAR. Even though they do not mention Pigs
specifically if you wanted to add a pig to their quilt or laundry bag it would
go down well. If you are interested in
doing that please let me know and I will tell you which requests to look
at.
RANDOM QUILTS
If you have a quilt underway that does not match any of
these requests please let me know. I have options for you.
Remember, you do not have to include everything they have
asked for. Footy quilts do not need to
have the logo or even the team name. Using the team colours is all that is
required. Simple is perfectly acceptable.
A number of these requests have given you favourite colours as well as
footy teams or other hobbies and interests.
It is fine to make a quilt using their favourite colours and include
only one of their interests. It is fine
to keep it simple.
If there is more than one request on this list that you
would be happy to do I suggest that you send me a list of requests and tell me
how many you want to be allocated…. ie one of the following please…. There are always a few requests that everyone
wants to do (and I can never pick them) so if the first one you ask for is
taken then I can allocate another from your list if I have a list.
A quick note… even if you check the request list every week,
please take the time to skim over this preamble. I edit it to make it relevant every week and
I know that many of you are not reading it by the questions I am being asked.
It takes you just a minute or two to scan it but takes me considerably longer
to read and answer the emails I receive ….. please give me a hand in this. Your
assistance is appreciated.
