Weekly Dispatches 17 January

Most of Australia has been focused on the temperatures around the country for much of the last few days.  I hope our friends in Victoria and South Australia made it through okay yesterday and managed to keep cool.  The weather news prompted me to have a look around at where some of our troops are deployed and see what the temperatures are like where they are too.

High of 38C expected in South Sudan

Down to 13 overnight and up to 24C in the Sinai in Egypt

Down to around -2C and up to all of 8C in Kabul

Down to 1 overnight and up to 14 today in Kandahar

Down to 17 overnight and up to 23 today in Dubai

I hope where ever you are that you are not doing it too tough with the weather, whatever it may be in your location.

Just a quick reminder that we have our first sewing day of the year on Sunday in Penrith.  Please let me know if you are planning to come so that I can be prepared.

So, to this week's dispatches....

32 quilts and 45 laundry bags for 2014.

2396 quilts and 3774 laundry bags in total.

Aniko has joined Aussie Heroes and made her first three quilts.

Chelly  created this and it was quilted by Belinda

Angela

Debbie

The bottom right hand corner of the quilt is hidden so you cannot see the name of the recipient!

Esther

Jenny and Gale

Joan

Julie createdt these next two quilts tops which were personalised with applique and then quilted by Debbie.

I think this one was wonky log cabins BOMs which were put together in a top and then like the previous two Debbie appliqued and quilted it.

Keryn

Liz j

Appliqued by me, pieced by Lynn and quilted by Belinda

Kym

Can you see the chess piece quilting?

Rita M

And the back

Sandra

And did you spot Nemo?

Stephanie T showed us this pattern with Angela, Caroline and I met for lunch one day. I think I will have to write up a tutorial for it.  It is so simple but so effective and the perfect backdrop for applique!

Su

This recipient wanted the Aussie flag and the Afghani flag but the Afghani flag is really difficult to duplicate so we went with the colours of the flag and didn't Su do a fabulous job!

Sue N

That is all for this week folks.   Hope you all have a good weekend.

Till next time........... keep spreading the word and happy stitching!  JMxx
